SNORKEL IN OAHU
Oahu has spots that are perfect for snorkeling. The water is just swarming with marine life that snorkelers won’t get enough of the beautiful colorful fishes, eels, turtles and other marine species and the lively coral reefs. Snorkeling in Oahu just gets even better when you spot an eagle ray or you play with dolphins.
The following are some of the best snorkeling spots in Oahu.
Makua Beach has a depth of 15-50 feet with ledges of plentiful fishes and invertebrates. You can find giant parrot fish, white goat fish, moorish idol schools, large yellow tang schools, and Hawaiian checker cowries. You can find dolphins freely swimming in the deeper seas.
Kea’au Corners has a depth of 35-40 feet. You can find here some species of Jacks, peacock grouper and bigeye soldierfish.
Makaha Beach Park has a depth of 20-40 feet. There are cavern formations as well as arches and tunnels. The visibility is almost perfect with steady current. There are octopus, green sea turtles, eels, tamed white tip reef sharks, manta and dolphins.
Electric Beach at Kahe point is about 30 feet. There lies a power plant that makes the current outflow creates a thermal condition that is very beneficial to the coral reef growth that supports the wonderful and colorful wildlife that abodes here.
Pokanu Point is about 40 feet with lava and rock formations you can view from the shallow water. The habitat is preserved and growing nursery fishes of different species.
